Turn a shot into a new picture
Hand a capture to Apple's Image Playground and it comes back as an illustration, without ever leaving the shot.
- Plan
- Floatie Pro
- Requirements
- macOS 15.2 and Apple Intelligence
How it works
Hand the shot over from the editor
The Image Playground button in the editor toolbar opens Apple's sheet with this shot as the seed. Write what you want, pick a style, and the candidates come back; keep one and it becomes a new floating shot. The original shot stays — if you don't like it, make another.

What you keep lands as a new shot just off the original, and goes into History the moment it is made. The original stays put. The new one is an ordinary floating shot, so corner buttons, the editor, drag-out and Copy Link all work on it. Cancel the sheet and nothing happens.
When you'd use it
An illustration for a post
Start from a screenshot you already have, instead of hunting for stock images.
Softening a stiff diagram
Hand over the capture, describe the style you want, and the result comes back as a new shot.
Questions about this
Which Macs support this?
You need macOS 15.2 or later with Apple Intelligence turned on. Otherwise, the button tells you so instead of failing.
Does Floatie see the generated image?
It only receives the result Apple's sheet hands back. Nothing about the image goes to Floatie's servers.
Can I edit the result?
Yes. It comes back as an ordinary floating shot, so the editor, drag-out, and link all work the same way.
