How it works
The rail stacks up newest first
Press ⌘⇧H and recent captures line up as thumbnails. Click one and it floats back exactly where it was; right-click for copy, save, delete, or make a link. The widget's position can be set beside the notch, in a screen corner, or turned off entirely.
It remembers which app you captured from
The moment a capture starts, it records which app was on screen. Each thumbnail carries that app's icon, and picking an app in the filter narrows the list to just what was captured from it. Finding 'that error I saw in Xcode' takes two clicks instead of scrolling through everything by time.
Storage
Once you're over the limit, the oldest shots are deleted first.
0 shots exceed the new limit and will be deleted from this Mac.
Set the pace it accumulates at
Set how many to keep, how much disk to use, or how many days to retain, and the oldest ones go once you hit the limit. Lower a limit and it counts how many will be deleted first and waits for you to agree. Storage lives in an app-only folder on this Mac, and Settings can open that folder in Finder directly.
When you'd use it
A shot you closed too soon
Open the rail and click the thumbnail, and it comes back right where it was.
That error message from yesterday
Filter by which app it was captured from, and you'll find it in two clicks.
Sending something you already captured
Copy it or make a link right from the rail, without reopening the shot.
Questions about this
Does history get uploaded anywhere?
No. It lives in an app-only folder on this Mac, and you can open that folder in Finder from Settings ▸ History.
How long are shots kept?
Until they hit the limits you set — count, disk space, or retention period. The oldest ones go first.
What happens if I lower the limit?
It counts how many will be deleted, tells you, and waits for you to confirm.
What you capture doesn't disappear
The rail is free; storage size settings are Floatie Pro.
