How it works
Choose what to capture first
Choose between region, window, or full screen, and turn on system audio, microphone, and webcam independently. The webcam bubble can be a circle or a rounded square, mirrored or not, and placed in whichever of the four corners you like. Turn off 'Start immediately' in Settings and it begins after a countdown instead.
Stop, and the video is floating
The moment you stop, the recording is floating on screen just like a shot. No need to go find a file — trim the front and back, drag it into Slack or Finder, or export it as an MP4 or GIF. The corner buttons work the same way too, so you can pin it, turn it into a Ghost, or fold it away while you write an explanation.
- 00:00First, select a region and start recording.
- 00:04Stop, and the video floats right there on screen.
- 00:09Trim the start and end right here.
Captions are generated on this Mac
Speech in the recording is transcribed on the device, and you can export it as SRT/VTT or burn it into the video. Audio never leaves the Mac, and recognition uses the same on-device path as text recognition. Captions are a Pro feature.
When you'd use it
A bug you can only see in motion
A five-second clip beats three screenshots, and it drops into the issue like any other file.
A quick explainer for a coworker
Record the region, turn on the webcam bubble if you need it, trim the front, and send it.
A loop for a landing page
Record it, trim it, and export it as a GIF or MP4, no video editor required.
